Gil Scott....in Persona.

Some weeks back we had the opportunity to attend a concert/discussion featuring the great Gil Scott Heron....the occasion was certainly a pleasure and honor especially seeing as how Gil's contribution to art and culture has been pivotal in not only the renaissance era but today's scene as well...some of our favorite artists (and yours as well) continue to sample and commemorate Gil Scott...-LK

No Crabs Please

Not particularly referring to the those annoying critters one may receive from a toilet seat in a Night Club or the local "Loose Lucy." However, these Crabs are just as bad and harder to get rid off.
On your way up they try to hold you down. They lurk in the shadows of your dreams nawing and feeding on your imperfections.  When they sense that you're beginning to rise above the temptations you once frequently indulged in, they are quick to remind you of your daunting past.

Unfortunately, the cure for these Pests won't be found during a visit to the Clinic or through prescription shampoo.

But through your unyielding determination to Never.... Give.... In! This will Kill'em! -LK

2010 U.S. Census...To count or be Counted?

- Ok so we figured it out! The Census is important because it provides the truth about who we are, in the time we live in. Every year, more than $300 billion in federal funds is awarded to states and communities based on census data. That’s more than $3 trillion over a 10-year period. Census data also guides local decision-makers in important community planning efforts, including where to build new roads, hospitals and schools. For more information about the 2010 Census Click Here! We definitely encourage you to participate. - LK

I'm Rich B*@ch!! Slim Who??

Forbes just dropped their annual "Billionaire" list and for the first time in about 15 years an 'American' isn't at the top..not that this really matters to us but much fuss was made about Mr.Billy Gates (53 bil) not being the #1 guy..instead his spot was relinquished to a Mr. Carlos Slim (53.5 bil) which is interesting enough..Mr.Slim is a Mexican native who built the majority of his fortune on his booming Telecommunications empire..Slim has business dealings from the NY Times to insurance and finance firms..many people in Slims' own Mexico had mixed feelings about his latest accomplishment seeing as how many of Mexico's people live in very impoverished and poor conditions....any spot on this list would serve us well peep it here..-LK

Torch Please!

DreamVille & NC's own J.Cole got the chance to come home and grace the stage with Hov himself as the BP3 tour landed in Greensboro, NC..being DreamVille natives it was definitely good to see our brother come full circle and continue to rep our city..."Could I be a star..does fame in this game have to change who you are?". Much Love. You can also peep Cole on the covers of the 'Source' magazine as well as the XXL freshmen cover. -LK

What’s the Point of being Realistic?

Will Smith's Wisdom from David Matthies on Vimeo.

A bit of inpsiration for our dailies...we often fill our brains with enormous amounts of nothingness which sometimes we aren't really aware of..Will Smith touches on some very important concepts that one should probably live by on a daily basis..some will be quite surprised to see that Will is much more than a remarkable actor & [Hip Hop Era] icon but a true revolutionary thinker as well..it would do yourself well to peep this vid in its entirety.

     - "Being realistic is the most commonly traveled road to mediocracy..."(6:56)

What we call reality has not always been real. At some point what we take for granted as “reality,” was birthed in someone’s imagination. If two brothers sought to be Realistic they would have never defied gravity. If a man of African decent sought to be realistic he would have never became president of the United States. If you choose to be realistic you will never be great! Your imagination is a real part of you; use it to do unrealistic things. - LK

A little CornHusker Love.

So over the past few weeks we've been scrambling similar to the headless chicken after the loss of one our most important friends...the HP DV6000..no of course this isn't a person but the feelings are similar especially since we held our most precious company possessions on that 3.6 lb piece of foreign manufactured technology...but nonetheless we found a few bright spots within the past few weeks...some of our good friends from the distant lands of mid-western Omaha, Neb sent us a few pictorials certainly changing any skewed view we may have possibly had of the 'Cornhusker' land...much thanks is definitely owed to our extended fam Shannon & Leron and photos by Terrence Tryon. -LK

But I’m a Millionaire…

We are subject to the Law of Perpetual Opportunity and we can enforce this law in our own behalf as often as we need to…

"…for the best verse hasn't been rhymed yet,

The best house hasn't been planned,

The highest peak hasn't been climbed yet,

The mightiest rivers aren't spanned.

Dont't worry and fret, faint hearted,

The chances have just begun,

For the Best jobs haven’t been started,

The best work hasn’t been done." -LK
